the sun was falling and the sky darkened into a dark purple. james never really took the time to appreciate nature as it is. the sun was setting, and because james was partially empty, it was probably the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. it was a soft, dark orange, lighting the sky only so lightly. there was something more beautiful then the sun, and it was love. it was his lily. his lily. not peters, nor remus', nor sirius', heck not even dumbledore's. his lily. his one love. but it was all thrown away. it was all thrown away because of a stupid argument. lily had reasoning though. james did drink too much. but why ditch him for that? they had so many good times. there were hardly any downs.
this called for a talk with sirius. james had owled sirius, to meet him by the garden. james was so confused. was lily pregnant? was sirius ignoring him? he hadn't talked with his best mate for what seemed a month, possibly more. james leaned against the garden gate, watching the sun set, down, down, down and gone. it was so beautiful. james awaited for sirius' arrival, as james took the time in the snowy garden. getting snow all over his pants and down his boots, he felt like he was a kid again. it was fun. having no problems at all. just being a kid.
notes; short, yeah i know. sorry. im getting kicked off the computer.

Sirius wasn't the type of person who could solve other people's problems for them. He'd never been that guy who others went to as a shoulder to cry on. He had the tendency to run away from his own problems rather than face them, and most everyone knew it. He wasn't the problem solver, the peace maker, or anything remotely close to those roles. He was simply Sirius.
He never thought he'd have a problem with that, but it made James' dilemma impossible to deal with. The boy was a mess without the girl he'd been pining over for ages; one glance was enough for anyone to see the pain written in each of his features. It had been two months, and the boy clearly wasn't getting better, and Sirius couldn't deal.
That wasn't the worst of it, of course; the fact that he wasn't there for his best mate was the least of his problems, but the worst was so horrible, so difficult to think about, that he simply didn't. James would hate him if he knew. James would despise him, claim that they were never friends, and would probably hex him the first chance he had. And Sirius wouldn't put up a fight, as it would be what he deserved. The guilt overwhelmed him whenever he chatted with his best mate, so he simply didn't.
He couldn't ignore the owl, though. He'd been pretending that he wasn't ignoring his friend by keeping busy, but ignoring the owl would prove that he really was ignoring James, and that would lead to questions. Sirius wasn't ready for questions; he still hadn't admitted the entire scene to himself. So, as he was asked, he trudged down to the garden, hands shoved into his pockets against the cold, doing his best to keep a forced grin on his face. It didn't take long at all to spot James, a half-empty shell, cast in a bright light from the sunset.
It came as no surprise that, even as he approached James, he wasn't cast in the same light. Wherever Sirius went, shadows seemed to follow, as though announcing his guilt. He tried to ignored this as he cleared his throat and struggled to grin at the boy. "Long time no see." he said simply, giving him a half-grin before turning to glance at the sky.
ooc; no worries, that was fine.
