Alexander scanned the people in the great hall. Yes, there were beautiful ladies, men courting them, marry-hungry mama's after only the most wealthy or the highest status, but he felt distant from it, though he hid it well. Right now he would rather be galloping through the pastor on his horse or something of that sort, but his own mama had held this ball mainly for him. He was pretty sure that she wanted him to find someone, like in the stories or something. He loved his mother, she could just be out there sometimes, and that only made him love her more. He smiled at his best friend next to him and then the young lady. "I believe so, Daniel." His friend had a big smile and eyes for Lady Melissa, but then again, he had eyes for every beautiful girl out there. Alexander stood there, chatting lightly, drinking occasionally and just being a civil son to the hostess. He looked around when the music stopped and there was a collective gasp. He frowned, looking up. Then he blinked, looking at the angel on the stairs, for surly she was an angel.
Alexander was in a black coat with silver and gold trimming. He wore a simple black mask that covered his upper face, his hair was loose and some was in his eyes but he could still see, even though his mama wanted it cut. He put a hand on Daniel's arm. "You have lady melissa, remember." He gave him a fleeting grin and then started walking through the throngs of people. Who said he couldn't be brave? Once at the stairs he was looking upon probably the most beautiful girl in all the city. He bowed, holding out his hand. "My Lady." He said quietly, staring up at her with his deep shining green eyes, locking her gaze.
